Psalm 119:1-8 || Ep. 921 A Blessed Life Begins Here?
Wednesday Jul 03, 2024
Wednesday Jul 03, 2024
Honestly, I tend to complicate things. I can find myself longing for more and then, I re-read and see again the simple, powerful, complete truth of just being at the feet of Jesus in His word. Join me in Psalm 119:1-8 and discover how living according to God's Word leads to a blessed life. Obedience, praise, seeking God wholeheartedly, equipping yourself to dwell richly in Scripture - this is how to find purpose and blessing in every day.
Dwelling in the Word and letting the Word dwell in us richly is different than reading the Bible or reading a devotional with Bible passages. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly and return the favor by dwelling in the Word - not "doing" Bible study, not simply reading - but moving into the Word with heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's being intentional in making a shift from treating the Word of God like a self-help book to letting it dwell in us as the living Word of God that it is.
Commit to Daily Scripture Reading: Set aside time each day to read a portion of Psalm 119 or another meaningful passage.
Engage in Personal Reflection: Journal about how God's Word is impacting your life and thoughts as you study.
Join the Challenge: Write out Psalm 119 verse by verse and reflect on its meaning in your life. Scriptures from this episode: Psalm 119:1-8

John 8:12-30 || The Light of the World

Sunday Jun 16, 2024
After Jesus says, “I am the light of the world,” the Pharisees ask for witness testimony to back up his claim. Jesus responds using Pharisaic witness testimony protocols: “In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.” When the Pharisees fail to understand, Jesus tells them they will know who He and His Father are after they see Him lifted on the cross.

“Love is love.” Is it though? Is that what God’s word says? It’s June and in the U.S. that means “pride month” where the “Love is love” mantra is celebrated and pressed upon us and while it might seem and feel a simple enough idea, for those of us who want to honor and love God’s Word and not use it to fit our personal ideas we should be careful not to just accept a motto without weighing it against God’s holy Word.
